Shoknan African Restaurant and Bar

Came for my birthday lunch, first visit and it was amazing. The staff lovely and friendly and explained stuff and the food, oh my word. I had Kelewele (spiced Fried plantain) for my starter. I will be looking up how to make this as it was so tasty I have a new favourite. Hubby had turkey tails and whizzed through them says they were gorgeous. For mains I had Jollof rice with meat and he had yam with Tilapia. Again both delicious the heat build up as you eat but there is so much flavour and the rice is honestly the nicest cooked rice I've had in ages, in terms of texture and flavour. Can absolutely recommend, especially to those who like a bit of a kick to their food but want the flavour there as well. We also had drinks, Star lager is crisp and refreshing, a good balance.

Been to this restaurant a few times and the service is lovely. Food came pretty quick and very friendly staff. Had fried yam and fish with some very lovely black sauce and I can't get enough. Visited with a couple of colleagues and they say the fried rice is nice as well.. I will definitely visit again.

My experience was soo beautiful. I really enjoy coming here the service,food is top notch. The boss is also welcoming and friendly to i would recommend this restaurant honestly you’ll leave feeling full which is good haha😅😅

I had my birthday dinner at Shoknan African Restaurant and Bar and it was absolutely fantastic. The vibe was lively yet comfortable, with great music and friendly staff who made me feel truly celebrated. The food was the star of the night — I had the jollof rice with chicken, and it was perfectly spiced and full of flavor. We also shared pepper soup, fried plantains which were all delicious. Portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming place for a special occasion with authentic West African cuisine, Shoknan is the spot. I’ll definitely be back!

Massive portions, super tasty, absolutely lovely! Me and my fella thoroughly enjoyed and will certainly go again soon. Highly advise you take your own Tupperware because you won’t want to leave it on the plate for the bin if you can’t finish it 😂
